Transmission Investment’s team is composed of many of the leading figures within the area of offshore transmission. Between them they have over 100 years of experience in the UK electricity supply industry, the majority of which has been focussed on the development of offshore transmission. Their achievements include leading the development of several offshore wind farms and offshore transmission projects.

Partners

Chris Veal
Managing Partner

A highly respected figure in the UK power industry recognised as being a pioneer in the offshore transmission space and influential in promoting the UK’s offshore wind energy potential.

A director of Transmission Capital Partners, he has also led all of Transmission Capital Partners’ OFTO bids to date.

His previous experience combines extensive offshore wind development and transmission experience, with many large project roles including leading the development of the Greater Gabbard offshore wind project for Airtricity and heading National Grid’s offshore transmission team.

Chris is a member of the Electricity Networks Strategy Group co-chaired by Ofgem and DECC.


Mike Lee
Partner

A recognised expert in the area of transmission design, development and operation with over 20 years experience. Mike heads the asset management function within Transmission Investment.

Mike was previously System Development Manager with National Grid, with responsibility for all new connections and reinforcements to the electricity transmission system in England and Wales. This included the management of a portfolio of transmission investments with a value in excess of £1.5bn. Prior to this Mike was a National Control Room Manager.

James Dickson
FAB Link Project Director

James is an experienced head of power projects and has successfully led multi-disciplinary teams for the development or acquisition of over 3.5GW of generation in north west Europe.

With over 18 years in the European power industry, James has been responsible for power generation acquisition for a major global Utility; development director for an Independent Power Producer; and project manager and principal chartered engineer for a top tier power engineering consultancy.


Mike Carter
FAB Link Engineering Manager

An experienced power engineer and project manager, Mike has over thirty years’ experience developing and constructing electricity transmission and interconnector assets.

He was Project Director for the 500MW, 360km, Basslink HVDC interconnector between Victoria and Tasmania, during the development and construction phases. More recently, Mike headed a major programme of transmission upgrades for Transpower New Zealand Ltd which included an upgrade to the Inter-Island HVDC Interconnector, a new 180km 400kV overhead line and a 37km 220kV underground cable across Auckland.

Mike is also an experienced company director and a member of the Institute of Directors NZ.


Allan Burns
FAB Link Engineering Manager

An experienced transmission engineer and project manager, Allan has over twenty seven years’ experience developing and constructing electricity transmission and interconnector assets. He was Project Manager for the development, in Wales, of the 500MW, 260km, East-West HVDC interconnector between Ireland and Wales, and the Owner’s Engineer project manager of the technical team during the construction phase. More recently, Allan been involved in feasibility studies for offshore grid connection to wind farms and project manager of the electrical team for 2.8GW of on-shore substations connecting offshore wind farms to the NG's 400kV grid.


Chris Jenner
FAB Link Development Manager

Chris has extensive experience of developing and consenting offshore wind, wave & tidal and energy infrastructure projects, with particular experience in environmental assessment, construction monitoring and site investigation. Prior to joining Transmission Investment, Chris led the successful development of 4GW Round 3 Hornsea Offshore Wind Zone with Mainstream Renewable Power and previously acted as consenting lead on several Round 1 and Round 2 projects through development and construction, including London Array, Gunfleet Sands, Lynn & Inner Dowsing, Lincs and Race Bank.

Chris is an active member of the Consents and Licensing Group of Renewables UK.


Simon Wheel
FAB Link Technical Lead

Simon has over 20 years of marine, landfall and onshore cable installation experience on interconnectors, offshore renewables (wind and tidal) and telecoms for many European projects. He has provided engineering support both to project developers/owners and tendering installation contractors in all areas of a project lifecycle from site development and consenting, through early engineering into contract tendering/negotiation, award and finally construction.

Simon has also been at the leading edge of vessel and methodology development for marine installation of power & telecoms cables.


Richard Sidley
FAB Link Regulatory & Commercial Manager

Richard has extensive experience leading the business readiness, commercial development and on-going operation of merchant HVDC Interconnectors.

Prior to Transmission Investment Richard was the Commercial lead for National Grid’s portfolio of merchant Interconnectors between continental Europe and the UK; responsible for their profitability, longer term commercial strategy and regulatory arrangements. During this time he led the development and implementation of cross-border power trading arrangements and frequency support services ensuring the continued commercial success of these businesses.


Bevan Duncan
FAB Link Finance Manager

Bevan’s experience spans project financing, equity raising, M&A and commercialisation of power projects within the EMEA region. Over the last 20 years he has worked for leading utilities, IPP’s and within investment banking and advisory firms.

Bevan is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants.


Clare Magness
FAB Link Project Co-ordinator

Clare is the Project Co-ordinator for the FAB project. Supporting all of the FAB Development team she is responsible for assisting with budgeting, planning and documentation. She has over 10 years’ experience working in the city, using her attention to detail in financial and organisational roles.

Nadia Martinez
Accounting & Administration Manager

Nadia is an ICB qualified bookkeeper with 10 years experience in office management and administration. She is responsible for producing and maintaining all financial records for Transmission Investment whilst supervising and managing all activities that facilitate the smooth running of the office.

Asset Management Team

Bruce Turner
Deputy Head of Asset Management

Bruce is an experienced Chartered engineer who has previously worked in the Renewable generation sector at senior level since 2009 as Offshore Engineering manager for SSE. Focusing on recruiting, developing and managing a multi skilled team of engineers to deliver engineering, maintenance and asset integrity management functions to the Greater Gabbard Offshore wind site and other offshore sites that SSE had commercial interest.

Bruce and his team had responsibility for all operational engineering aspects of the Greater Gabbard site through construction, commissioning, steady state operation, OFTO sale, OFTO engineering interface and latterly turbine end of warranty management.

Bruce brings a wide range of asset integrity management and operational experience applicable to the offshore wind transmission business covering foundations, cables, sea bed bathymetry, HV / OFTO equipment, OFTO interface, turbine performance management, and O&M implementation planning for new site operation.

Prior to joining the renewable industry Bruce worked within Formula 1 and US motorsport in a lead powertrain test and development role.


Dominik Adamus
Senior Commercial Manager

Dominik is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) with extensive knowledge and experience in developing and managing commercial functions on numerous infrastructure projects in the UK. His areas of expertise include contract negotiation and management, financial management and insurance. Prior to joining Transmission Investment Dominik was responsible for managing the commercial function at London Array – the largest operating offshore wind farm in the world.

Dominik holds a Masters Degree in Quantity Surveying from the University of the West of England and Masters of Business Administration from the University of Bath.


Viktoria Balogh
Planning and Commercial Assistant

Viktoria is a graduate Quantity Surveyor with 10 years’ experience gained on various infrastructure projects in the UK with particular focus on contract management, maintenance works, payment verification and dispute resolution. She has recently graduated from The College of Estate Management in Reading with her dissertation focusing on renewable energy. She is also a qualified Accounting Technician holding AAT Level 4 Diploma.


David White
Senior Asset Manager

David has extensive experience in the management of power transmission assets, with particular expertise in operations and maintenance, protection systems, fault management, best working practices and the practical application of health and safety procedures within this environment. He is also a highly experienced Senior Authorised Person having managed a wide range of construction, maintenance and fault location and repair activities.

Prior to joining Transmission Investment, David worked for Scottish and Southern Energy Power Distribution.


George Brown
Senior Asset Manager

George has a background in transmission and distribution maintenance with experience in managing both routine and fault work on high voltage equipment both on and offshore. He is also an experienced Senior Authorised Person. Prior to joining Transmission Investment George worked for DONG Energy and UK Power Networks.


Colin Nicol
Senior Asset Manager

Colin is a qualified Electrical Engineer with extensive knowledge and experience in the operation and maintenance of power transmission and distribution assets, gained in both the offshore industry, and manufacturing facilities. He has a strong legislative background, and is an experienced SCADA and control systems engineer, with a special interest in safety related control systems. Prior to joining Transmission Investment, Colin worked for DONG Energy, with responsibility for managing both the Windfarm and OFTO Operations and Maintenance activities at the Barrow and Walney Offshore Windfarms, and has previously worked for both Kimberly-Clark and Michelin Tyres Plc.

Colin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Lancaster University.


Steve Lawtey
Senior Asset Manager

Steve has 20 years of experience in the UK power industry, specifically in transmission and generation operations and maintenance as a Control Person and Senior Authorised Person. He graduated with a first class honours degree in Engineering with Technology Management from Huddersfield University in 2013 on completion of part-time studies.

Prior to joining Transmission Investment, Steve worked for National Grid Company, ConocoPhillips, E.On and DONG Energy.


Ravi Kaskana
Power System Engineer

Ravi is a Chartered Electrical Engineer with almost ten years of experience in the power industry. His areas of expertise include project management, power system modeling, HV substation design, wind farm reticulation design, people & contractor management, electrical work cost estimation and grid connection.

Prior to joining Transmission Investment, Ravi worked in Australia for Senvion, Fluor and Jacobs.
